The four Daleks—later known as the Cult of Skaro—brought a device called the Genesis Ark through the breach, declared war on the Cybermen, and started a global conflict between the two races. In the meantime, the Doctor has learned that Mickey, who is with Rose and the Daleks and pretended to be a Torchwood employee, Pete Tyler, and Jake Simmonds have all been able to travel between the realities. Because Rose and Mickey are time travelers and would trigger the Genesis Ark—which the Daleks cannot do because it is Time Lord technology that has been stolen—the Cult of Skaro is keeping them alive. The Daleks, Cybermen, Rose’s family, and everybody else who has crossed the Void will be drawn in by the Doctor’s plot to open the breach and then close it. Rose continues to assist the Doctor despite refusing to live in the parallel universe, but she is unable to resist and ends up stranded there. One of the last breaches allows the Doctor to send his image, and after a sorrowful farewell, a mystery woman wearing a bridal gown emerges in the TARDIS.
